YNC’s Story

Your Neighborhood Clinic was founded to close the gap in access to high-quality, culturally responsive mental health care for individuals and families in underserved communities. Rooted in the belief that everyone deserves compassionate, quality support regardless of income or background, the YNC was created to bring therapy, assessments, training, and quality behavioral health services directly into neighborhoods where care is often hardest to find.

What We Do

Mental Health Training & Capacity Building

YNC delivers culturally responsive mental health training for schools, community organizations, and professionals. Our programs build capacity by equipping educators, staff, and community leaders with practical tools to recognize mental health needs, respond to crises, and promote wellness. YNC advances mental wellness through accessible, community-centered services funded by strategic partnerships and grants. By integrating prevention, treatment, and education, we promote healing, resilience, and emotional well-being across the lifespan.

Violence & Substance Abuse Prevention and Intervention

YNC implements trauma-informed strategies to prevent and reduce community and school-based violence. We focus on early intervention, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution to interrupt cycles of harm and promote safer environments for youth and families. We also provide evidence-based substance abuse prevention and early intervention services. Our work emphasizes education, screening, and community outreach to reduce risk, strengthen protective factors, and support long-term recovery.

Through strategic partnerships and grant-funded initiatives, Your Neighborhood Clinic has collaborated with several DC Public and Charter Schools (eg. Ron Brown, RSTAY, KRAMER) to expand access to mental health services and training. We have provided over 500 sliding fee scale therapy and assessment sessions, ensuring affordable, high-quality care for individuals and families who might otherwise go without services. Additionally, YNC has played a critical role in workforce development by training 5 pre-doctoral students and 5 doctoral students, strengthening the pipeline of culturally responsive mental health professionals committed to serving underserved communities.

Participants in YNC programs demonstrate improved mental health knowledge, coping skills, and emotional regulation. Educators, caregivers, and community members report greater confidence in recognizing mental health concerns, responding to crises, and supporting overall wellness.

Families served by YNC experience stronger communication, increased resilience, and improved family functioning. Our substance abuse prevention and early intervention programs strengthen protective factors and reduce behaviors that place youth and families at risk.
