Healing every hood…everywhere

Dr. Shareefah N. Al'Uqdah started her doctoral program when her oldest son was seven months. While earning her PhD. she had to learn how to manage school, work, life, and parenting.

Throughout graduate school, Dr. Shareefah gained invaluable skills to help families and individuals residing within urban communities. Her training has included working in DC Public and Charter Schools, DC Superior Courts, St. Elizabeths Hospital, Community Mental Health Clinics, and College Counseling Centers. Dr. Shareefah completed a Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) sponsored training in Co-Occurring Disorders aimed at improving clinician's ability to address mental health and substance abuse issues.  She has also conducted mental health trainings internationally.

All of these experiences reinforced the need to develop mental health services that provides competent treatment and that adequately trains emerging therapists to meet the needs of individuals and families residing in urban neighborhoods.

Dr. Shareefah specializes in providing therapy to individuals from diverse backgrounds. While she prefers to address issues related to family, parenting, and adjusting to major life changes, she has worked with clients who are overcoming recent traumatic events, experiencing difficult interpersonal relationships, and wanting to live a happier more fulfilled life.

As a mom, a wife, a bonus mom, and a licensed psychologist in Washington, DC. she understands the multifaceted lives that we all lead and thus, she assists individuals with managing all of the titles, responsibilities, and stuff that comes with our unique circumstances. 

Her office is located at 2007 Vermont Ave, Washington, DC. 

When she is not providing professional services to her clients and community, Dr. Shareefah engages in several community service activities that seek to address the needs of the underserved in Washington, DC.
